Jean Overby Ball (aka Miss Jean) passed away at her home at Lawndale Manor Assisted Living in Garner on Wednesday, May 15 ^th at the age of 85.  She was born on August 25, 1933 in Harnett County, the daughter of the late W. A. (Billy) and Louise Overby.  She was preceded in death by her brothers, Floyd and Terry Overby.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Wanda Ball Emel and husband, Greg of Apex; granddaughter, Carly Jean Richardson of Durham and grandson, Daniel Lee Richardson of Raleigh.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Montlawn Funeral Home in Raleigh with funeral service and burial to follow.

Jean was a long time resident of Fuquay-Varina.  She worked at Johnson's Drug Store followed by many years at Hardee's.  She was lovingly known as "Miss Jean".

The family of Jean wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to Jody Faircloth, Keshia Phillips and the entire staff at Lawndale Manor Assisted Living for their love and dedicated care to Miss Jean over the past years. They also want to thank Liberty Hospice for their dedicated service.
