Jerry Van Edwards (93) of

Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away

on Wednesday, March 27, 2024,

surrounded by his wife, son, and daughter.

He was born June 22, 1930 in Spring Hope, NC, He was the son of the late Spencer Levi Edwards and Hellen Turner Edwards.

Shortly after graduating from high school from Spring Hope High School in 1948, Jerry enlisted in the US Airforce where he was stationed in Europe for the duration of his service. Upon returning home he enrolled at NC State University and began his career as a self-employed draftsman and architectural precast manufacturer and entrepreneur. He began Architectural Stone Products in Apex, NC in 1967 until it closed in 2017.

Surviving are Judith Burroughs Edwards, his wife; his son Blake Edwards (Julie) of Emerald Isle, NC; his daughter Dawn Ray (Paul) of Spring Hope, NC; 3 grandchildren, Katharine Wilson (Jared), Patrick Edwards, Grace Ray; and one great-grandchild, Skylar Wilson.

He was preceded in death by his siblings: Haywood Edwards, Spencer Edwards, Lillie Belle Griffin, Joe Wayne Edwards, Cecil Edwards, Rachel Hill, Minnie Jones, Mildred Williams, Alan Edwards, Dixie Sutherland, Peter Edwards. He is survived by his brother Nelson Edwards of Castelia, NC.

He was a loving husband, father, Papa, brother, and friend. He was passionate about his work, creative with his art and poetry, enjoyed working in his garden and deeply enjoyed spending time with his family.

A Memorial service will be held 11:00 am, Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Montlawn, Raleigh NC. The family will receive family and friends prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the Chapel of Memories Mausoleum, Montlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Cary, NC.
