Jewel K. Jones, 85 of Knightdale, passed away on December 26, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in Ebony, VA, on October, 7 1934 daughter of the late Everette and Loris Kidd.  She was predeceased in death by her husband John J. Jones Sr., brother Monroe Kidd, sister Norene Davis and daughter Loris Elder.  She is survived by her son John M Jones Jr. and wife Melissa Jones of Youngsville, daughter Cynthia Jones of Knightdale. Grandchildren Michael Jones and family of Raleigh, Michelle German and family of Angier.  Wendy Smith Morris and family of Clayton, Wayne Reese and family of Angier, and 7 great grandchildren.

Jewel's family moved from Virginia to North Carolina shortly after birth and was raised in Raleigh.  Jewel married young and started her family.  She stayed home with her children until they were school age.  She worked in banking and retail where she found her love for shopping. She loved to read and took up crocheting long enough to make an afghan for each of her children.  She loved watching movies especially westerns.  Not only was she a mother but an amazing grandmother who helped raise her grandchildren as well.  Her door was always open to her family.  After doctoring boo-boos and the passing of her husband she went back to school to become a CNA.  She decided to return to retail and was a dedicated employee to Walmart, where she had many friends and left a lasting impression.  She was the hippest, coolest most pierced g-ma around.  She loved her bling and was a fashionista.

A visitation will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 PM on Tuesday December 31 2019 at Montlawn Funeral Home, 2911 S. Wilmington St. Raleigh, N.C . 27603, with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM.
