Jimmie Ray McLamb, 84, of Smithfield, NC, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2024, at
Transitions LifeCare surrounded by his wife and three daughters.
He was born February 4, 1940, in Smithfield, NC, and fourth child of Lettie and Atlas McLamb .
He graduated from Smithfield High School and went to Atlanta to attend Time Keeping School
for the railroad. He then became a barber and worked 4 years at Duke University Student
Union followed by barbering with his brother on Hillsboro St. He graduated from Wake
Technical College as a Registered Nurse in 1976. He worked at Wake Med in the ER and retired
his nursing career from Central Prison in 2000 after which he returned to barbering at Wendell
Barber Shop. He continued working as a barber at home until his death. Jimmie had strong
family values and enjoyed visits from his family. For many years he and his wife Candy traveled
to numerous European Countries and across the US.
Jimmie is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Candy, daughter Donna McLamb of Arizona,
daughter M'Lissa McLamb Ellis and son in law Chip Ellis, grandsons Landon Edward Ellis and
Kadyn Ray Ellis, daughter Allison Raie McLamb Boesch and son in law Andreas Boesch.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, and his sister.
