John "Jack" H. Brown of Lakewood, Ohio was born on May 20,1934 passed away peacefully on March 20, 2022 surrounded by his family. He was the son of the late John and Mary (Howard) Brown as well as predeceased by his sister Elizabeth Brown Drier. Jack graduated class of 1952 from Brush High School in Lyndhurst, Ohio. He served in the US Coast Guard during the Korean War and was very proud to do so. Later in life he met and married the love of his life, Joan Lee (DeBolt) Brown, who preceded him in death after 62 wonderful years of marriage. After serving in the USCG, Jack managed the Caledonian Bagpipe Band and was employed by Ohio Bell until his retirement at age 52. After retiring and relocating to North Carolina Jack and Joan spent many years traveling, golfing, fishing, and enjoying time spent with his wife and family.
Aside from his wife, he was survived by his sister Shirley Jean Brown Ullom of Simi Valley, California, dear sister-in-law, Marilyn DeBolt Smith (deceased-Jim) of North Carolina, two daughters; Alison (Brown) Gazso and husband Dennis of Garner, NC, and Lynda (Brown) Dean and husband Mark of Raleigh, NC, Six grandchildren; Mark Dean, Wendy (Brown) Lowe, Melinda "Mindy" Gazso, Michael Dean, Jonathan Gazso (Jessica), and Daniel Gazso, Additionally, 12 great grandchildren; Christopher Brown (Meghan), Kayla Tew (Jacob), Madison Aycock, Andrew Gazso, Kathryn Gazso, Mekayla "Lizzy" Dean, Carter Aycock, Ashley Gazso, Hannah Green, Zachary Gazso, Zoey Lowe, and Sarah Musah.
Jack will be greatly missed by an abundance of friends and extended family.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, March 26 at 11am followed by a graveside memorial service at Montlawn Funeral home.
