Obituary of John Groff

John Henry Groff, 79, died Saturday at UNC Hospital. He was a retired US Navy Veteran serving for 20 years. After retiring from the Navy, John became a maintenance supervisor with the prison system in the State of Pennsylvania. He was a member of American Legion Post 116 in Fuquay Varina and the VFW Post 1052 in Garner.

Surviving are his wife, Linda; sons, Paul Groff of Vass, NC, Dennis Groff, and John Groff of Laurinburg, NC; daughters, Melissa Williamson, and Michelle Harding of Laurinburg and Ann Marie Rushing of Wingate, NC; 20 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; brother Paul Groff of Lebanon, PA; sisters, Lena Arnold and Anna Groff of Lebanon, PA and Teresa Kessler of James Town, PA.

The family will receive friends at Montlawn Funeral Home from 7-9 pm on Tuesday.
