John Mack Jones Jr., 71, went into the arms of Jesus at the hospital on
April 14, 2024. Born in Raleigh, N.C., he was the son of John Mack Jones and Jewel
Love Jones (Kidd). He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather.
Mack grew up loving the outside; horses, dogs and growing vegetables. He also
enjoyed motorcycles and cars as well as running track at school, earning a letter and a
ring in this sport. In 1973, he married Melissa Kay Bennett of Garner and together
they had one son, Michael Robin Jones. He worked at Asplundh Tree Expert
Company for 42 years; starting at the ground level, he soon achieved the Foreman
position. Over the years he was awarded many safety recognitions and awarded
Foreman of the Year more than once. He was given the position of General Foreman
a few years before he retired in 2015. He was well-respected by his peers and many
men he trained over the years in this dangerous profession.
He loved country music, western-style clothes, and fishing. He enjoyed being with his
family and relatives every chance he got. Mack loved to be around people and
sharing stories and memories too. The Lord came into his life before he died on
Sunday. The glory goes to a faithful God and many prayer warriors.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Loris Marie Jones.

Mack is survived by his wife of 51 years, Melissa Kay Jones (Bennett); their son,
Michael Robin Jones; his wife Catrinel, and three grandchildren, Eowyn, Evelyn, and
Emmet. Also, a sister, Cynthia Yvonne Jones of Knightdale along with many nieces
and nephews.
