Obituary of John Lee
Mr. John Philip Lee, 80, of Raleigh, NC died Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at his home.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 21, 2009 in the Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday prior to the service.
John was born September 14, 1928, in Macon, GA to the late Jap S. and Flossie Vickory Lee of Lattimore, NC. He graduated from Lattimore High School in Lattimore, NC and attended Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, NC and Queens University in Charlotte. John served in the United States Army from 1950 to 1952. He spent most of his life in Raleigh where he retired in 1990 after 16 years of service with the railroad and 21 years of service with the North Carolina Utilities Commission, Transportation Division. John's major passion was spending time working in his yard and garden.
John is survived by his wife, Alton H. Lee; his stepsons, Louis L. Jordan and wife, Shelia, of Raleigh and Joel W. Jordan and wife, Cheryl, of Spokane, WA; brother, Wylie V. Lee and wife, Dianne, of Boiling Springs; brother, Robert E. Lee and wife, Geraldine, of Shelby, Jack H. Lee and wife, Martha, of Charlotte; sister, Marjorie L. Doty and husband, Vail, of Shelby and his grandchildren, Kelvin Jordan and his wife, Andrea of Spokane, WA, Rachael Jordan Kimble and her husband, Jeremy of Palouse, WA, Kim Worley and her husband, Tim of of Ford, WA and one great grandchild, Sammi-Jo Worley. John was preceded in death by his sister, Lt. Col. Florence Laverne Lee.
