IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John Dorian
Tyler
January 5, 1946 – September 17, 2023
John Dorian Tyler,77, of Four Oaks was born January 5th, 1946, to the late Mary Joann Wildes and Norwood Hampton Tyler. He went to his heavenly home on Sunday, September 17th, 2023. John is preceded in death by his parents (listed above); maternal grandparents, Annie Thrift and Christopher C. Wildes, Sr.; paternal grandparents, Emma Martin Tyler and Moses Brown, and John Monroe Tyler as well as a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
John is survived by his wife of 33 years, Theresa Locklear Tyler; two daughters: Jaclyn T. Daniels (Doug), and Laura Danielle Tyler (Jordan); a son Christopher Warren Tyler (Amanda); five grandchildren: Shane Anthony Smith, Jackson Warren Tyler, Holland Catherine Tyler, Hunter Allen Tyler, and Tyler Levi Salmon; two sisters: Patricia Ann Blakley (Harris), and Nancy Ardelia Powell (Donnie) both of Andrews, South Carolina; and a multitude of cousins, nieces, and nephews that loved him dearly. As his nephew Brian said, "I can remember the amazing man taking care of me, making frozen Pepsi drinks and homemade pizza, just to hang out and watch football."
"Johnny" is a 1964 graduate of Weldon High School in Weldon, North Carolina and received his Bachelor of Science in Business from East Carolina University in 1968 (GO PIRATES)!
When John walked into a room, he knew how to make even a stranger feel welcomed. His magnetic personality and tender hugs warmed the souls of all those he encountered. John will be remembered for his infectious smile, unwavering generosity and heart of gold. He loved his family and thought he'd be around forever to keep cars clean and gas tanks full. John loved physical fitness, watching sporting events (especially ECU Pirates), and keeping his yard looking good. John loved to cook with grilling and Asian food as his specialties. He said he had to learn to cook because his mother could only make bologna sandwiches and oyster stew.
John loved people, and he will truly be missed by so many.
