Obituary of John Utley

John McCellan Utley, Jr., of Raleigh, 85, died Thursday evening at the home of his granddaughter and her husband, Nicole and Tony Wise, with whom he resided.

Funeral Service will be 12 Noon Monday at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 15718 N. NC Hwy. 50, Garner, NC. Burial will follow in Montlawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at Montlawn Funeral Home from 6 - 8 p.m. Sunday and other times at the home, 6216 Mal Weathers Road, Raleigh, NC.

A native of Wake County, John was born October 10, 1925, the son of the late John and Annie Williams Utley. He was retired from Pine State Creamery and then Sears - Roebuck where he was the appliance sales supervisor and he also farmed throughout his life.

John is survived by his daughter, Theresa Utley Teachey of Four Oaks; son, John M. Utley III of Florida; daughter, Donna Utley Carroll of Fuquay-Varina; grandchildren, Nicole Wise and her husband Tony of Raleigh, Christopher S. Teachey of Four Oaks, Melissa Utley of Florida; great grandsons, Anthony L. Wise, Jr. and Austin L. Wise, both of Raleigh. John was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Nash Utley.
