Obituary of John Wiggins
Mr. John L. Wiggins, 95, of LaGrange, passed away Thursday, March 25, 2010 at Hospice LaGrange. Mr. Wiggins was born October 24, 1914 in Powellsville, NC, son of the late John Byrum and Mable Cowan Wiggins. He was a member of the Ephesus Baptist Church in Cary, NC and had retired as Chief Bridge Engineer for the North Carolina Department of Highway Transportation with 34 years of service. Mr. Wiggins was a member and past president of the Exchange Club and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Wake Forest University. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served during World War II with the U.S. Coast Guard.
The family will receive friends at Montlawn Funeral Home Sunday, March 28, 2010 from 7:00 to 9:00pm. Funeral services will be held 3:00pm Monday, March 29, 2010 in the Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Montlawn Memorial Park. Reverend Greg Templin of Ephesus Baptist Church will be officiating services.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth B. (Lib) Wiggins, son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Cindy Wiggins, all of LaGrange; granddaughters, Lisa and Gary Hester of Nottingham NH, Terri Lynne and Ken Moss of Wendell, NC, Leigh Anne Ronald Jones of Apex, NC and Tammy and Chad Wendling of Alexander City, AL; stepgranddaughter, Paula and Nathan Lee of LaGrange; stepgrandsons, Kenneth and Heather Elsberry of Marietta and Jason and Shanna Elsberry of Windermere, FL; 17 great-grandchildren and a niece, Dana Wiggins of Chesapeake, VA. He was preceded in death by his son, Alan Lee Wiggins.
