Obituary of Johnie Young

Johnie Matthews Young, 77, passed away peacefully Monday June 3, 2013 surrounded by loving family members. She was born April 20, 1936, in Harnett County, NC, daughter of the late Johnny Frank Matthews and Edna Dean Matthews. She is also preceded in death by her sister Bonnie May Baird.

Cherishing her memory, she is survived by Wallace Reid Young Sr., her husband of 57 years, daughter Belinda Sue Laughlin of Raleigh, son Wallace Reid Young Jr. of Cary; grandchildren: Matthew Laughlin of Winston-Salem, and Ruth Young of Cary, along with many loving nieces and nephews.

During the last period of her long illness she exhibited an inspirational witness of grace, courage, and dignity that uplifted all whom came into contact with her. She touched all our lives and souls and her presence was and is a great gift for which all will forever be grateful.

Not only was she faithfully dedicated to family, friends, and church, but served as president of the Wake County Dental Assistants' Association and never failed to work on behalf of those less fortunate than herself.

The family will receive friends will receive friends from 7:00-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at Montlawn Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at Montlawn Funeral Home. Entombment will follow the service at Montlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.



We will hold you in our hearts

And often speak your name,

Though now we cling to the memories

And the picture in the frame.

Your resting place we visit

And put flowers there with care,

God knows the bitter sweetness

As we turn to leave you in his care.
