Johnny Ray Sollars, 66, of Wendell, passed away Monday, February 12, 2024. Johnny was born in Fukuoka, Japan to the late Dale Everett Sollars, Sr and Mary Kathleen Justice. Johnny spent his adult years as an electrician before retiring in 2017. He has survived 2 battles with cancer in recent years.

Johnny is survived by his daughter, Tara Sollars of Clayton, step-son, Rob Choplin, of Wendell; grandsons: Tyler Lane Trotter, Robert Ray Davis Sollars, David "Malachi" Trotter, and Christian "Tillett" Heath; step-grandchildren: Lukus Ty and Sky Mia Christensen; siblings: Michael Sollars, Nancy Smallwood, Frankie Sollars, and Tammy Sollars; siblings by marriage Sandra Johnson and Wayne Johnson; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Johnny was preceded in death by his wife, Marie C Sollars; brothers: Dale Everett "Sonny" Sollars, Jr and Neil Gene Sollars. Johnny's favorite thing was to spend time with his family and helping those he loved. He loved to attend or host gatherings of family, friends, food and fellowship. He was especially known for his July 4th barbecue and fireworks and being a good man all around. He loved his grandsons and always made an intentional effort to set a strong example to them of how to be responsible and dependable young men.

Johnny loved life and had a big personality, he loved to joke with everyone and he never met a stranger. He made an impact and impression on all those he met and he will be missed greatly by those who loved him.

Johnny knew Jesus as his personal Savior and we take comfort in knowing that he has reached his eternal home and is no longer in any pain.
A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, February 20th at 3:00pm at Wakefield Central Baptist Church
in Zebulon, NC. The family will receive friends and family prior to the service beginning at 1:30.
