Obituary

Johnsie Mae Hubert Kyles was born on July 1, 1943, in Sparta, Georgia, to Tommie and Adelle Hubert. She peacefully entered eternal rest on March 4, 2025, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her beloved husband, Willo, and their devoted daughter, Tonya.

Johnsie received her early education at Crosby Garfield Elementary School and later attended Ligon High School.

On August 1, 1970, she married the love of her life, Willo Kyles, at First Cosmopolitan Baptist Church in Raleigh, North Carolina. Together, they shared 54 beautiful years of marriage, filled with love, laughter, and unwavering commitment.

In 1982, Johnsie gave her life to Christ and was baptized at Elevation Baptist Church. She later became a dedicated member of Compassionate Tabernacle of Faith Missionary Baptist Church, where she faithfully served on the Usher Board and was an active member of the Senior Ministry. She was also a devoted Bible Study and Sunday School participant, always eager to grow in her faith and share the Word of God. She remained a faithful servant of the Lord until her passing.

A woman of many talents and passions, Johnsie had a deep love for children. She owned and operated a daycare and worked as a valued teacher at Jo's Daycare and Childcare Network. Her nurturing spirit and dedication left a lasting impact on the many young lives she touched.

Johnsie also had a natural gift for interior design and an impeccable sense of fashion. She was an avid fisherman, a lover of music, and enjoyed dancing. Above all, her greatest love was for the Lord, whom she served with her whole heart.

Those who knew Johnsie will remember her as a loving, kind, and energetic woman, full of life and compassion. Her presence brought warmth and joy to everyone around her, and she will be deeply missed.

She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Willo Kyles, of the home; her three beloved children: Tonya Hubert Coles (Walik) of Knightdale, NC, Karen Hubert Hailey (Alexander) of Erwin, NC, and Jonathan Kyles (Kia) of Raleigh, NC. She was a proud grandmother of seven, a loving great-grandmother, and a cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her dear siblings: Charles Hubert of Raleigh, NC, Pauline Cox of Raleigh, NC, and James Watkins of Knightdale, NC, as well as a host of loving friends who will forever treasure her memory.
