Obituary of Joseph Upchurch

Joseph Bailey Upchurch, 87, passed away October 22, 2011 at his residence.

A Graveside Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at Montlawn Memorial Park.

Born March 18, 1924, he was the son of the late Ralph D. and Thelma Sauls Upchurch. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Joseph B. Upchurch, Jr.

J.B. is survived by his wife of 4 ½ wonderful years, Mary Owen Upchurch; children, Joy Strobel (Phil) of Raleigh, Jean Moody of Knightdale, Jimmy Upchurch (Juanita) of Angier and Patty Heath (Danny) of Leland; special granddaughter, Pam Beach; 9 additional grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

A World War II Navy Veteran, served with Raleigh Police, U.S. Postal retiree, J.B. was active in The Moose, VFW, American Legion and AMVETS. He will truly be missed by everyone he touched.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Liberty Hospice for their tender loving care.
