Obituary of Josephine Tolomei

Josephine Oliver Tolomei passed away calmly Wednesday, July 7, 2010. She lived to the ripe old age of 94 and was happy, content and at peace right up to the very end.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 10, 2010 at St. Mary Mother of the Church Catholic Parish, 1008 Vandora Springs Rd., Garner, NC. Burial will follow in Montlawn Memorial Park, Raleigh, NC.

A native of Brooklyn, New York, Josephine was a first generation Italian and the oldest of her siblings who preceded her in death. She became a successful dressmaker and taught collegiate level classes in fashion design. She most notably worked for the designer Adrian as well as the famous (or infamous) designer Mr. Blackwell who was known for his list of the Ten Worst Dressed Women.

Josephine is the widow of the late Robert Tolomei and is survived by her son, Victor M. Tolomei and his wife Flora Tolomei; two grandchildren, Amanda Andrews and her husband Barry Andrews of Holly Springs, NC and David Tolomei of Brooklyn, New York.
