It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Joyce Marie Hamilton on October 11, 2024, at the age of 92 in her home. Joyce was born on January 18, 1932 in Erwin, N.C., to Thomas L. Horne and Fannie McGille Horne.

Joyce met the love of her life and beloved husband, Ernest Edward Hamilton and married November 1949. Joyce was an avid reader who enjoyed camping and visiting with friends and family at her home while serving her homemade banana pudding with love.

After marriage Joyce moved from Erwin to Raleigh and worked at Dorothea Dix hospital until having children and became a stay at home mother for Deborah, Robert and Jamie. Later, Joyce would work as a bookkeeper for Winn Dixie and later a clerk for the NC Department of Motor Vehicles where she retired in 1994.

Joyce is preceded in joining the Lord by her husband Ernest Edward Hamilton; daughter, Jamie Kay Barrow; parents, Thomas and Fannie Mae Horne; brothers Thomas, Fred and Sheldon Horne; sisters Doris Horne, Dorothy McKinney and  Wilda "Runt" Mason.

Survived by: Son, Robert Thomas Hamilton and daughter-in-law Kathy Elaine Hamilton, Deborah Ann Odette, and son-in-law Linwood Earl Barrow. Grandchildren, Joseph Odette, Edward C. Hamilton, his wife Sanaz Okhovat and Dustin L. Hamilton. Great Grandchildren Jackson Odette, Jamison Odette and Vali Hamilton
