Joyce Collins Putnam, 74, died Wednesday evening, December 9, 2015 at Wake Med in Raleigh after a brief illness.

Born September 25, 1941 and native of Wake County, she was the daughter of William and Edna Collins. She was a retired claims adjuster with Nationwide Insurance Company.

Joyce was known for her kindness and compassion and was deeply loved by all who had the good fortune to know her.

Surviving are her daughter, Sarah Evelyn Putnam of Raleigh; sons, Bryan Anthony Putnam of Raleigh and Darrell Alan Putnam and wife Kelly Lynn Curtis of Cary; grandchildren, Kristen, Jacob and Lauren Shackley; great-granddaughter, Mikayla Lynn "KK"; brothers, William "Mojo" Collins of Kitty Hawk and David Collins of Smithfield.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Putnam; son, Kenneth Putnam; brother, Ronnie Collins; sister, Lynda Collins Mooney.

A memorial service will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Montlawn Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm Saturday prior to the chapel service.
