Juan
Munoz Jr.
Aug 25, 1936 — Sep 27, 2026
Friday
Montlawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park
10:00 - 11:00 am (Eastern time)
It is with sorrow that we announce the passing of Juan Rafael Munoz Jr., a man of great pride, love, and fun. Juan was born on August 25, 1936 and passed on September 27, 2026. His 90 years were full of joy, however he wanted to live to 140 so he could be there to confirm if the future history books are right about Vietnam.
Juan enlisted in the Marines in 1955 and retired in 1975 after two tours of duty in Vietnam where he maintained and flew as crew chief on CH-46 helicopters. He was a man of fun and joy: a social butterfly and always joking. His wife, Anna Sophia Munoz, called him her “playboy” because he was just a big kid always looking for fun things to do. He liked to bowl, fish, go shooting at the range, and hang out with his buddies in the Marine Corps League.
At 90 years old, Juan was still driving, bowling 3 days a week and eating out for breakfast and dinner every day prior to his stroke at the beginning of July. He loved to go to Marine Corps birthday balls and helicopter reunions, and he loved traveling – especially cruises because there were more people to talk to.
In addition to his parents, Juan Rafael Munoz Sr. and Martha Wahl Munoz, Juan was preceded in death by his grandson, Joseph.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Anna Sophia Munoz; sister, Juanita Geiger; children, Juan and Danielle; grandchildren, Dana, Candice, Noah, Anna, and Matthew; and great grandchildren, Bryce, Colin, Maddix, Elias, and Sofia.
He was a good man, loving husband, excellent father, and proud Marine. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
A graveside funeral celebrating Juan’s life will be held on October 9, 2026 at Montlawn Memorial Park. We invite all who knew and loved Juan to join us in honoring his memory.
