Obituary

Ted "Larry" Gregory, 78, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on July 7, 2020. Larry was born and raised on a farm in Harnett County, the son of the late Daily London and Irma Ogburn Gregory. Larry graduated from Angier High School in 1960. Soon thereafter he moved to Raleigh, North Carolina and began working as a computer operator with Westinghouse, later known as ABB. He fell in love and married his wife of 52 years in 1967, 6 months after knocking on her front door and introducing himself. You see, she was his neighbor and he just had to meet her. He was known to many as someone who'd never met a stranger. This couldn't be a truer statement. He loved people, talking to them, meeting and getting to know anyone that came into his path. He was a family man, always putting his wife and kids first in his life. His life goal was to ensure that his girls had better opportunities than he ever had growing up. He always said as a parent you always want to provide more for your children than you ever had, and he worked hard to make that happened. Larry enjoyed anything that had to do with his kids and grandchildren. They were truly the light of his life. He lived to put a smile on their face and make their wishes come true. Always giving all of himself and never asking for anything in return. He was a huge advocate of higher education and made sure his kids always placed their education before all else, except God. He was a Christian man, strong in his faith and raised his children to be the same. He was a man of many words, some extremely helpful, some hysterical, some full of wisdom and then there were the times the words could be very embarrassing. Those were his best words and the ones you never forget. He was absolutely the best in so many ways. He was always thinking ahead and could see things coming that needed to be done. If there was something that needed to be repaired, he knew how, or he knew a brother he could call on for help. Larry's largest lifetime accomplishment was providing for his family in so many ways. No one could have ever asked for a more loving, loyal, giving, devoted and protective husband, father, and grandpa. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm, Monday, July 13 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Fuquay-Varina. Burial will follow at Montlawn Cemetery, Raleigh.
