Obituary of Larry Liggins
Larry T. Liggins, 63, of Zebulon, passed away Tuesday afternoon, September 20, 2011 at his residence.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 23, 2011 at Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12 -2:00 p.m. Friday.
Born October 25, 1947 in Wake County, NC, He was the son of the late Percy T. Liggins and Thelma Creech Liggins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Liggins.
Larry is survived by his loving wife, Judy H. Liggins; son, Matthew "Matt" Liggins of Vanceboro, NC; daughter, Krista Liggins of Clayton; brothers, Donnell Liggins of Wendell and Ricky Liggins of Raleigh.
Mr. Liggins was a veteran of the United States Air Force, where he served in the Vietnam War. After his time in the service, he worked as a Raleigh Police Sergeant, where he was given the honor of being awarded the Medal of Valor. Once he retired with Raleigh Police Department, he worked as an Investigative supervisor with the North Carolina Department of Justice until his retirement on March 1, 2010.
The family would like to give a special "Thank You" to Dr. Jason Katz and his staff at UNC Hospital, and Dr. William Jacobs with Raleigh Medical Group, as well as neighbors, family and friends.
Flowers are welcomed or memorial contributions may be made in honor of Larry to the Cardiology Fund for Excellence at the Medical Foundation of NC, 880 Martin Luther King, Jr Blvd, Chapel Hill, NC 27514.
