Obituary of Larry Ritchie

Larry Paul Ritchie, 68, of West Palm Beach, Florida, formerly of Raleigh, died Thursday, March 31, 2011.

Funeral Service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Montlawn Memorial Park with military honors.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 -8 p.m. Wednesday.

A native of Raleigh, Larry was born August 21, 1942, the son of the late Richard Paul Ritchie and Martha Mae Thomas Ritchie. He was a graduate of Millbrook High School and then joined the United States Navy where he served as a naval aviator on the USS Enterprise. After an honorable discharge, he served with the Army National Guard until 1971. He was a firefighter with the Six Forks Volunteer Fire Department and an Emergency Medical Technician with Six Forks Fire and Rescue with over 20 years service. Larry retired from IBM in Research Triangle Park with over 35 years of service.

Larry is survived by one son, David Paul Ritchie of Franklinton; two daughters, Robyn Smothers (Monty) of Raleigh, Christine Morgan and the late Jack Morgan, Jr. of Man, WV; grandchildren, Dylan Paul Ritchie and Demi Marie Ritchie, both of Franklinton, Brittany Marie Harrison of Raleigh, Courtney Ryann Morgan, Jonathan Tyler Morgan and Sarah Elaine Morgan, all of West Virginia; step-children, Brian Condo and Damien Condo of Florida, Alura Gambino and Caressa Condo, both of San Francisco. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary Ritchie and a sister, Vida Mae Ratliffe.
