Obituary of Latta Marshburn

Latta Meyer Marshburn, Jr., 81, of Raleigh, died peacefully Wednesday afternoon. He was the loving husband of Leta Wall Marshburn with whom he shared 56 years of marriage.

Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, September 19, 2009 at Montlawn Funeral Home chapel. Interment with military honors will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Born in Zebulon, Latta lived in Raleigh all of his life. He was the manager of Avery Upchurch's Exxon station on Peace Street and later opened his own station, Five Points Exxon, from 1974 - 1987. Latta served in the U. S. Navy and was a lifetime N.C. State Wolfpack fan.

Mr. Marshburn is survived by his wife Leta; four children, Lynda Federowicz and her husband Joe of Apex, Gail Barnes and her husband David of Wake Forest, Kip Marshburn and his wife Johnna of Holly Springs and Susan Tysor and her husband Greg of Raleigh and 12 grandchildren. He also leaves behind a brother, Allan Marshburn of Clayton and several nephews.
