Lawrence Wilton "Wilt" Gower of Raleigh passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2018.  Wilt has joined the love of his life, Judith, and is at peace.  He was a great and gifted craftsman, painter, woodworker, husband, father, grandpa and great grandpa.  He defended our country serving in the U.S. Army.  He enjoyed a successful career in Auxiliary Services as Laundry Manager at Duke Medical Center, leading 78 employees, some of which still kept in contact.  He later moved on to N.C. State University and finally retired from UNC.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Gower was preceded in death by two brothers, Elbert Gower and Gordon Gower.

Surviving are his daughter, Cynthia Ransom and husband Steve of Raleigh, grandsons, Jonathan Ransom and wife Tina of Hudson, WI and Joshua Ransom and wife Stephanie of Havelock, seven great grandchildren, Chris, Hailey, Norman, Justin, Hudson, Raleigh and Devon, two brothers, Alton and Jim Gower and four sisters, Grace Daughtry, Linda Dixon, Cathy Stewart and Diane Creech.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at 12:00 Noon at Montlawn Funeral Home.  A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 1:00 P.M. in the Montlawn Funeral Home chapel.  Burial will follow in Montlawn Memorial Park.
