Obituary of Lee Sanders

To know her was to love her-

her smile-her warm embrace

and her giving heart-

Lee Mae Sanders was born February 17, 1931 in Johnston County, North Carolina to the late Jimmy Sanders and Mamie Banks. She was affectionately known to family and friends as "Mae" and "Elder Sanders".

Elder Sanders was a hard working woman, who lived, to love and care for her family. She was known as a mother to many, there was absolutely nothing that she wouldn't do, to give you a hand up or words of encouragement when it mattered most. She was very passionate about her love of sports and her favorite basketball team, North Carolina State University. Her life remained a testimony to the fact that all things are possible through Jesus Christ.

Elder Sanders earliest introduction to Christ was at Sanders Grove Baptist Church. Her family then joined True Way Holiness Church under the leadership of the late Bishop Geraldine Bailey, were she served as Pastor's Aide. At the time of her passing she was a faithful member of Cornerstone Pentecostal Holiness Church founded by the late Bishop Christine Harrington, currently under the leadership of Senior Pastor, Shirley Boone.

She is preceded in death by her sibling, Mildred Terry and her grandson, Larry Lemonte Sanders.

She leaves to cherish her sweet memories: 3 children; Helen Chapman, Garfield Richardson, Carrie Hussey(Horace); Her sibling, Ethel Mae Richardson, all of Raleigh North Carolina, 4 grandchildren; Stephanie Burgos (Julio), Jerome Richardson, Keith Darnell Chapman and Daimean Richardson; 28 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.
