Obituary of Lewis Evans

Lewis Roosevelt Evans, son of the late Theodore Roosevelt Evans and Mary Jane Morrison Evans, was born July 21, 1935, in Hoke County, North Carolina. He departed his life on February 22, 2008, at Johnston County Hospital, in Smithfield, North Carolina.

He leaves to cherish his wife, Lois Gulley Evans of the home; three sons Roosevelt and Ronnie Evans, both of Fayetteville, and Morris Evans, of New York; a daughter Colla Evans, of New York; a brother that preceded him in death, Herbert Lee Evan; four sisters Queen Ella, Lucille, and Peggy Evans, of Raeford, NC, Ella Mae McMilliam (Willie), of Parkton, NC; mother in law Lucy Ferrell; three son in laws Johnnie Gulley (Naomi), of Johnston County, Jerry Gulley (Mary), of Smithfield, Dwight Gulley, of Goldsboro; three sister in laws Mabel Ceasar, Ruby Holliway, and Vivian Lamb; four aunts; a special uncle William Morrison, Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. in the Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel. Family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. Officiating the funeral service will be Reverend Betsy Mae Banks.
