IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Linda C
Mcgee
July 31, 1938 – February 8, 2023
Linda Carroll McGee, 84, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2023 while surrounded by her loving family. Linda was born on July 31, 1938 in West Virginia to Harry Carroll and Fannie Fitzgerald Carroll, moving with her family to beautiful Sarasota, FL in 1945. She returned to visit Sarasota often, sharing a close and loving friendship with her sister, Mollie. Their families made many wonderful memories over the years as they spent time together in Florida, in the mountains of North Carolina, and while traveling the world. Linda met the love of her life, Joe McGee, while they were both students at Florida State University. They married in 1960 and began a fabulous life together in Joe's hometown of Raleigh, NC. Linda was a teacher before becoming Joe's unwavering business partner through thick and thin. Words cannot adequately describe their quiet, deep, and loving relationship. Linda was the kind, caring, and selfless soul of her family. She was a wife, sister, mom, grandma, daughter-in-law, aunt, and friend who put her whole heart into every relationship. Her grandchildren – Charlie, Zachary, Clay, and Callie – were the light of her life. She shared a special bond with each of them individually, took great pride in their accomplishments, and loved them all deeply. Linda was an amazing hostess who graciously opened the family home for annual Christmas parties, Pig Pickin's, and even a family wedding. She effortlessly brought a homemade warmth felt by everyone in attendance. And as a Florida State graduate, Linda was a huge Seminole fan, no matter the sport. She was honored to serve two terms on the National Seminole Boosters Board of Directors and made wonderful lifelong friendships with sorority sisters and college friends. Linda loved to travel with Joe and friends, thankful to have seen much of the world. She loved to play tennis, golf, bridge, and rummikub. Linda cherished time with her longtime friends whom she considered like family. Linda is survived by her loving husband, Joe McGee; her sister and brother-in-law, Mollie and Ronnie Cardamone; her son, Mike McGee and wife, Helen; her daughter, Lee Anne Oxford and husband, John; her grandchildren, Charlie McGee, Zachary McGee and wife, Mary Catherine, Clay Oxford, and Callie Oxford; her nephews, Greg Cardamone and wife, Diane, and Tom Cardamone and husband, Leo; great- niece, Lindsay Cacciatore and husband, Daniel; and great-nephew, Chris Cardamone and wife, Deanna and baby Owen; and first cousin, Madge Nanny; and many, many friends. A visitation will be held at Montlawn Funeral Home, 2911 S. Wilmington St., Raleigh, NC 27603, on Saturday, February 11 th from 10:00 to 11:45 a.m., followed by a private graveside service for the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the YMCA of the Triangle, 801 Corporate Center Drive Suite 200, Raleigh, NC 27607 or online at www.ymca.fyi/McGee, or to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, LLS Donor Services, P.O.
