Let me tell you a little about my Mom

Linda's family includes her father and mother the late Joseph and Frances Dudley,   Her daughter,  the late Angela Blalock and her surviving husband Lee Blalock, Her daughter Heather Thomas and husband Greg,  grandchildren Anna Elliott and husband Kris, Lindsey Blalock and Jessup Davidson , Joseph Blalock and wife Ellen, John Sawyer and wife Trish, Jacob Sawyer and wife Alli, Logan Hales and husband Isaac, Ross Thomas,  and Camryn Thomas.

Great grand-children of "Gi Gi" : Lilly, Madilyn, Wilson Elliott, Clark and Henry Blalock, Jaiden Robison,   Carsyn Sawyer,  Eli and Paisley Sawyer.

Mom was and only child, and loved all her cousins were like her siblings.    She frequently spoke of "the cousins" fondly.   Donna, Gloria, Phyllis, Beverly, Bob, Barbara, Margaret, Larry, Jerry (deceased), and Ralph.

Her Sunday School Class at Aversboro Road Baptist Church and "The Sisters" bible study group were precious to my mother.  Thank you sisters in Christ.

Mom grew up in Raleigh and spent many years as a hairstylist at Grecian Hairstyling in Raleigh.  In her retirement she worked for a bit at local Food Lion which she enjoyed so much.  She had a gift with people and loved talking to the customers.   She told me it was one of her favorite jobs ever.

My mom was a not just a mom, she was a grandmother, great grandmother, cousin, and friend to many.   My mom loved her children and honestly loved her grand-children and great grand-children even more if that was possible.   Her eyes would light up when she saw them.  She loved to hold and rock those babies!

We all have many memories of mom.   Candy, candy and did I say candy in the hen jar?  She always made sure we were all fed at all times.   She loved shoes.  I cannot tell you how many pairs she had a one time, but the kids loved walking around in them; even the boys. My sister shared that same love.  We had many beach trips, dinners, cook outs just because the sun was shining and numerous sleep overs with grandbabies.

Mom taught me how to be a mom, a homemaker and most important she shared the gospel of Christ with me from a very young age.  For that I am forever grateful.  Mom always told me to look at Christ and not people for the example of Christianity, and that there was no perfect church,  but there is a perfect God we serve.  She shared many scripture truths with me over the years and sharpened me in so many ways.

Our very last conversation was about a sermon at my church in Hebrews.   We talked about strongholds and laying those things down on the altar, and not picking them back up.  We talked about trust in God and how that is the equivalent of worship.   The enemy wanting us to feel defeated and like we cannot overcome those things that hinder our growth in Christ and our peace. I am thankful for that conversation.   She knew the love and strength of Christ her whole life.  Mom passed away peacefully in her home unexpectedly – she is now in her new home where I will join her one day.   I pray you have that same hope in Christ.

John 14:3 and Jesus said… If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.

As my sister said before she went home to be with Jesus "It is well with my soul"

We will have a celebration of life service on Wednesday October 13, 2021 11:00 am at Aversboro Road Baptist Church Garner North Carolina    At that time if you have a memory of mom we will have a time to share at the end service.
