IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lois
Hudson
December 29, 1952 – September 6, 2021
RALEIGH
Lois Jean (Zobel) Hudson was born in Salinas, California on December 29,1952. She was adopted at birth by Bruce and Barbara Zobel. Lois passed away in Raleigh, NC on Sept 6, 2021. Lois attended public school in Apex and Cary, NC, graduating from Cary High School in 1970. She trained to become a Licensed Practical Nurse in Charlotte, NC and worked several years in Rex Hospital in Raleigh where she met her husband, John Hudson. They married in Raleigh on August 10, 1985. After staying home raising their son, Robert, until he was in school, Lois then worked as a teacher's aid at Dillard Drive Elementary School for several years. She always enjoyed being around children. Lois grew up traveling with her family every summer throughout the 48 contiguous states and Canada. The travel seed had been planted and years later took root when Lois discovered her desire to travel abroad with a program sponsored by Wake Tech. She shared excited stories
from her travels in Europe, especially England and France. For years, Lois volunteered for SPCA of Wake County, helping in whatever capacity was most needed to provide a clean home for stray dogs and cats. At home, she enjoyed gardening, although she gave away more of her produce than she ate. She also loved sewing, making quilts for new babies and gifts for Christmas and birthdays. She was tireless in her efforts to
personalize gifts for people important in her life. In recent years, Lois was excited by learning her origin story from her biological family in central California. Her Aunt Pearl Ingram, Aunt Lenore and Uncle Tommy Sanders, cousin Donna McCormick and many more cousins welcomed her with open arms into their family and brought her joy and a sense of closure to the mystery of her beginning. Lois is survived by her husband John and son Robert Hudson; brother, Don Zobel (& wife Priscilla); sisters, Kathy Ball (& husband Gordon) and Julie Zobel; two nieces, two nephews, and one grandnephew. She is also survived by her sister Ruth Ann Longworth, Aunt Pearl Ingram, Uncle Tommy Sanders and cousins, Donna McCormick, Brenda, Charlotte, and Denice Ingram.
A memorial service has yet to be scheduled. In lieu of flowers, Memorial gifts may be made to
the SPCA of Wake County at: https://secure2.convoi.net/spcawc/site/Donation2 or a charity of
choice.
