A native of Raleigh, Louise was the daughter of Willie and Betty Taylor Owens. She enjoyed being outdoors and working in her yard. She was an avid storyteller and enjoyed making people laugh, especially at family gatherings and during the Christmas holidays. Louise loved trains, as her late husband, Walter Raleigh Hunnicutt, Jr. was a longtime railroad engineer. Louise also loved angels, a reminder of her daughter, Norma, who died in 1994. She lived most of her life in Raleigh, though she spent the past four years in Wilmington being cared for by her daughter, Rose. Louise was devoted to her family and will be deeply missed by all who knew her and loved her sense of humor and determined spirit.
Louise is survived by her daughter, Rose Hunnicutt Bauerlein and her husband John of Wilmington; her five beloved grandchildren, Donna Lindsay Ysidron, Ron Lindsay, Jr., Lisa Marie Bauerlein, Valerie Bauerlein Jackson, and Jessica Bauerlein Widener; her nine beloved great grandchildren, Christina, Julia, Robby, Connor, Jake, Amelia Rose, Luke, Gus and George.
She is also survived by her brothers, Billy Owens of Raleigh, Charles Owens of Destin, FL, Harold Owens of New Baltimore, MI and her brother in-law, Donald Hunnicutt of North Kingstown, RI, her cousin, Pat Patterson, her dear friend and neighbor, Nicky Lovick and many dear friends at Champions Assisted Living in Wilmington.
In addition to her husband, Louise was preceded in death by her daughter, Norma Jean Hunnicutt Lindsay and her sister, Margaret Owens Rivenbark.
