Luby "Buddy" Edward Mooring, 86 of Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away Saturday, December 27, 2025, at his residence.

Born on June 9, 1939, in Wilson County, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Lonnie E. Mooring and Sarah Paschall Mooring. A US Army veteran, Luby lived a life of quiet strength, service, and warmth.

An avid golfer with a long-time membership with the  RGA and a devoted reader, he worked for the State of North Carolina DOT until his retirement. He approached life with a simple, hardworking spirit and a generous heart. He was also an enthusiastic runner, participating in several national marathons, including the Boston Marathon. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, whose presence brought calm and steady support to those he cared for most.

Preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Estelle Davenport Mooring.

He is survived by:

One son, Joseph E. Mooring, and wife Rhonda, of Garner, NC

One daughter, Margaret E. "Beth" Littesy, of Raleigh, NC

One sister, Helen Sue Tugwell and wife, Daisy Anderson, of Greensboro, NC

A granddaughter, Amber B. Littesy, of Raleigh, NC

Two step-grandsons, John Taylor Arndt, of Raleigh, NC, and Thomas Arndt, of Chapel Hill, NC

Family and friends will gather on Thursday, January 8, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Montlawn Funeral Home. A graveside service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. at Montlawn Memorial Park, with the rendering of military honors provided by the U.S. Army Honor Guard from Fort Bragg, NC.

Luby Edward Mooring leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
