Lydia Stephenson Bunn Moore

Mrs. Lydia Stephenson Bunn Moore, age 90, died Monday, July 7th at Dowling Park Retirement Village, Live Oak, Florida.

Lydia was born the youngest daughter, August 25, 1917 in Johnston County to the late John Pinkney and Clyda Barefoot Stephenson. She was preceded in death by her husband of her three children, William Henry (Bill) Bunn of 18 years and son, Henry Bunn who died February 2003, her late husband, Wilbert Moore of 30 years, her sisters and brothers, Katherine Pleasant Lassiter, Novie Stephenson, Bill Stephenson, Margaret Massengill and John Stephenson.

Lydia is survived by her son, Tim Bunn and wife, Edith of Garner, her daughter, Beth Jacobs and husband Keith of Oxford, England and her daughter in law, Helen Bunn of Smithfield, eight grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren.

Lydia will be remembered for her many years with Hudson Belk Company where she worked in the china and crystal department always greeting the public with a friendly smile and excellent service. She dedicated her life to her young family on the early death of her husband, Bill, and she will always be remembered for her faith and commitment as a Godly woman and caring Mother. Lydia was at her happiest when she was giving to others, perhaps a beautiful bouquet of roses picked from her rose garden or a dish prepared for someone sick. She was a quiet and loving example of Love in Action always ready to listen to the stories of others.

Lydia met and married Wilbert Moore later in life and they shared 30 happy years together with her gaining two stepchildren, Charles Moore and wife Jenelle of Garner, Shelby Moore of Garner, two step grandchildren and two step great grandchildren. Many of those years were lived in Dowling Park Retirement Village where Lydia again was able to give of herself to others and will be so dearly remembered for her gift of time and love to others. She had an empathy and compassion for others that drew them to her for a hug and a cuddle in her latter years. A shining light has gone out but her gift of love will continue to live on and warm our hearts.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, July 12, 2008, in the Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park.
