Obituary

Lydia Louvenia Harrison, age 96 went to heaven to join her husband, George Alfred Harrison and many other beloved family members.  Lydia was born in Pitt County on February 1st, 1925 to Lena and David Hathaway. For many years she celebrated her birthday on February 2nd. It was not until after her children were grown that she found out from her birth certificate that it was actually February 1st which would forever confuse her children. She was the youngest of eight siblings. Her family fondly referred to her as the baby long into her childhood. She adored her mother and often spoke of seeing her again one day.

Lydia was born and raised on a farm in Pitt County, North Carolina.  She never lost her farm roots and when she moved to the big town of Cary, NC she continued to have a garden for many years. She was married to George Alfred Harrison for 59 years before his death in 2001. They lived in different places until settling in Cary, NC in 1959. Shortly after moving to Cary, George and Lydia purchase property and became owners of "Harrison Properties." Lydia's work ethic from the farm was put in place for everything she did in her life.
Lydia had a very strong faith throughout her whole life and believed prayer could solve all things. She was a member of Watery Branch church in Stantonburg, NC before she moved to Cary. She attended Haven Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC.
Lydia loved going to church, traveling with her family, and going to the Cary Center to play bingo with her good friends, Ruby and Janice. She loved music and could play the piano by ear.  She was a great southern cook and no one could turn down one of her famous meals. She never met a stranger and it was nothing for her to strike up a conversation with everyone she encountered. Her most passionate activity however was loving her family and she never stopped letting them now that. Her children, in laws, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy.
She is survived by her children, George Harrison of Johnsonville, SC, and his wife Jimmie, Mitchell Harrison of Raleigh and his wife Candice, Barbara Hall of Cary, NC, Joseph Harrison of Fuquay Varina and wife Stephanie Harrison, Penny Sears of Apex, NC and her husband Brian Sears.
Her grandchildren, Lisa Renko and her husband Dave, Chris Harrison and his wife Jennifer, Steven Hall and wife Dana, Jeffery Hall and his wife Stephanie, Chad Harrison, Brittany Klooz, and husband Brett, Savannah Harrison, Lyla Beth Harrison, Jacob Sears, Laney Sears and her husband Chris, and Benjamin Sears. She was also grandmother to Michael Harrison who proceeded her in death. She had 12 very loved great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends and loved ones on Sunday, November 7th at Montlawn Funeral Home at 2911 S. Wilmington Street, Raleigh, NC . There will be a viewing from 12-1pm with a service afterwards at the Chapel.
