Obituary

Margaret "Peggy" Garner

Peggy was the daughter of Paul S. Griffith and Isabel Griffith both educators in the fields of Music, French, English and Administration. Music was a special love for the Griffith Family.  Peggy's mother was a fine pianist and encouraged Peggy to take piano at the age of 4.  Peggy's father was an accomplished organist and performed locally for most of his life.

Peggy and her husband had a special love for Rottweilers and bread them for 36 years,  Her breeds and Champions were well known nationally.  Later in life she used the breeding for spreading the gospel as well.

Peggy lived a successful life from a business standpoint, but she still needed a Savior.  There was a longing in her heart for a relationship with the GOD she heard about all her life. A short time after her son David was born, she realized that she was a sinner and realized that there would never be a way for her to work her way to heaven by her good works.  She then received Christ as her Savior in a hospital bed. After that the LORD provided a way of not only service, but also opportunities to go in different church ministries. She realized her need to be baptized as her first step of obedience to her LORD. While attending Midway Baptist Church, she was baptized.

Peggy grew; she found herself growing because of the times she would personally spend in GOD'S WORD. She was a spiritual encouragement to many with her knowledge of GOD'S WORD and was able to serve with a very sacrificial, giving spirit. After attending Catawba Springs Christian Church, she got involved with the music program there. She was no longer able to play the piano, or lead in choral groups, but seeing a need for musical instruments, Peggy shared with her church, pianos, bells, and a organ...AND a lot of encouragement.

Peggy is survived by her children Julia, David, Don Stephen and Diana Lynn, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of loving family and friends. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Isabel Elliot Griffith. She was widowed twice, first by Don McCleary and then by her second husband of 30 years Richard Garner.
