Maria Napoli
1938-2019
Beloved Wife
Cherished Mother
Treasured Nonna
Maria Napoli began life in a small town near Palermo, Sicily. She was the youngest daughter of Salvatore & Angela Plescia. At a young age, she and her sister, Giuseppina, lost their mother. Their father remarried a wonderful woman, also called Giuseppina, who loved and cherished Giuseppina and Maria as her own. As a teenager, Maria met and fell in love with the man she would call husband for over 60 years, Vincenzo Napoli. They eloped and set house up together in a suburb of Palermo. They had two children, Gandolfo & Stella.
In the 70's, Maria, Vincenzo, and their little family decided to make a life changing move. They moved to America. They landed in New York and quickly took up housekeeping in Queens, Vincenzo worked and Maria kept house. They eventually moved to Long Island and then finally purchased a home in Lindenhurst, NY. They wanted to plant some roots. Maria kept busy with raising her children and keeping house. Their daughter Stella married and in September of 1980, their first granddaughter was born, Angela Maria. They cherished their first grandchild. Eventually Gandolfo married and more grandchildren came, August 1988, Vincenzo Steven (born to Gandolfo & Vita); June 1991, Maria Josephine (born to Gandolfo & Vita); July 1991, Andrea Salvatore (born to Stella & Vito); and September 1997, Maria Cassandra (born to Stella & Vito). Maria cherished her grandchildren and loved spending time with them.
In 2009, Vincenzo and Maria made their final move to Holly Springs, NC. They settled into a peaceful and full life surrounded by family and friends.
Maria was an amazing wife, mom, and Nonna. She had an amazing sense of humor and had a very quick wit. She loved spending time with family and being surrounded by her loved ones. She loved eating out & shopping (especially for clothes, knick-nacks, and household items).
After a brief struggle, Maria peacefully passed away January 18, 2019, just days after celebrating her 81st birthday. She has earned her wings and has gone to our Father in Heaven where she was reunited with her husband, Vincenzo; and her parents, Salvatore, Angela, and Guiseppina. She is survived by her sister & brother in law, Giuseppina & Domenico Regamulto (Campofelice of Fitalia); her son & daughter in law, Gandolfo & Vita Napoli (Holly Springs, NC); daughter & son in law, Stella & Vito Cuttone (Willow Spring, NC); granddaughter & grandson in law, Angela & Patrick Mariano (Apex, NC); grandson & his girlfriend, Vincenzo Napoli & Danielle Mandato (Raleigh, NC); granddaughter, Maria Napoli (Holly Springs, NC); grandson & granddaughter in law, Andrea & Christine Cuttone (Cary, NC); granddaughter & her boyfriend, Maria Cuttone & Austin Braswell (Willow Spring, NC); along with a multitude of nieces and nephews from New York, North Carolina, Italy, and beyond.
Life will be a bit empty now with her passing, but we will always cherish her smiles, laughter, sense of humor, and good advice. Rest in peace Nonna & give Nonno a hug and a kiss from all of us.
