Guadalupe Pedro Mateo, querida hija, hermana, amada esposa y madre.

Nacida en Atapan, Michoacán, México, hizo todo lo posible por dar a sus cuatro hijos (Jesus, de 44 años; Oscar, de 42; Eric, de 37, y Misael, de 31) una vida mejor. En el año 1997 emigró de México a Raleigh, Carolina del Norte, para empezar una nueva vida con su marido (Jose Dolores Vera Vera, 67 años) y sus hijos.

En los primeros años tras su llegada, aceptó a Cristo y le dedicó su vida, al igual que hicieron su marido y sus hijos.

En los años siguientes trabajó en varios restaurantes de comida rápida y se dedicó a la limpieza de muchos hogares y oficinas.

Todo su esfuerzo y sacrificio dieron fruto cuando, en 2006, logró cumplir uno de sus grandes sueños: tener su propia casa color rojo ladrillo con patio delantero y trasero.

Antes de darse cuenta, su pequeña familia comenzó a crecer cuando sus hijos formaron sus propias familias y le dieron nueras que ella las consideraba como hijas. María fue bendecida con un total de 10 nietos y una bisnieta.

A lo largo de su vida, que fue larga en amor aunque demasiado corta en tiempo, María logró cumplir muchos de los deseos de su corazón. Tuvo la dicha de ver a sus hijos crecer y convertirse en hombres, su fe en el Señor se fortaleció cada día, su amor por su esposo floreció con el paso de los años y recibió el amor incondicional de sus nietos, quienes la amaron con todo su corazón.

Maria descansa ahora en paz eterna y su familia puede regocijarse sabiendo que ahora está en la presencia del Señor.

Born in Atapan, Michoacán, México, Maria dedicated her life to giving her four sons—Jesus, 44; Oscar, 42; Eric, 37; and Misael, 31—a better life.

In 1997, Maria immigrated from México to Raleigh, North Carolina, to begin a new chapter with her husband—Jose Dolores Vera Vera, 67—and their boys. In the early years after her arrival, Maria devoted her life to Christ, as did her husband and children. Her faith became a lasting foundation for her family and continued to grow throughout her life.

Over the years, Maria worked in various fast-food restaurants and cleaned homes and offices to accomplish one of her greatest dreams: owning a home. In 2006, that dream became a reality when she and her family moved into their brick-red home, complete with a front and back yard. Before she knew it, her small family had grown. Her sons married, and Maria welcomed their wives not simply as daughters-in-law, but as daughters of her own. She was blessed with ten grandchildren and, later, one great-grandchild.

In her long yet short life Maria accomplished so much in her lifetime. She watched her boys grow into men, witnessed their families flourish, and saw her grandchildren grow. Her faith in the Lord became stronger, her love for her husband deepened, and the love she shared with her family was returned to her wholeheartedly. 

Maria now rests in eternal peace and her family can rejoice in knowing that she is now in the presence of The Lord.
