Marie Lane
Evans
April 25, 1937 – December 7, 2024
Marie Lane Evans was born April 25th, 1937, daughter of the late Genatis and Louvenia Lane. Married to the late Gophus Evans, Sr., for 52 years.
Marie Lane Evans retired from Resources for Seniors as a Home Health Aide, in which, she was employed for twenty-one years. In this occupation not only did she worked, but witness to her clients and done her Missionary work. She continued to do her missionary work by witnessing on the telephone when her health begins to decline. She would always have a word and advice to give you. When you were in need she was always there and supported not only with monetary gifts, but in prayer as well. She was a praying woman and a prayer warrior. Mother Evans would never ask the question "do you need anything. She would give her last to assist anyone.
Mother Evans, faithful member of Greater Ebenezer Pentecostal Holiness Church, under the leadership of Dr. Ruffin Turner, Sr., where she served as Mother of the Church for years, assisted with the Pastor Aide and Missionary Department, her passionate and enjoyment were singing in the Church Choir. Over the course of her life, she traveled near and far giving God the Glory and the praise. Bright Hope is her second home church in which she loved to enjoy herself.
Mother accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior when she was a member of Resurrection Church of Jesus Christ, under the leadership of the late Pastor Mary Jane McKoy.
Marie was preceded in death by her son Gophus G. Evans, Jr.; three grandsons; Shawn Shaw, Anthony Evans and Timothy Ray Evans, Jr.
Marie leaves to cherish her memories, seven daughters; Phyllis Lightbourne, Constance Diane Harris, Gail Powell (Billy), Darlene Evans, Cynthia Evans, Charlene Winston and Morris Evans all of Raleigh, NC, two sons; Michael Evans of Raleigh, NC and Timothy Evans (Melinda) of Knightdale, NC; one sister; Bertha Watkins (James) of Garner, NC; one brother; Charles Lane of Raleigh, NC. And host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
