Marie Whittington Honeycutt, 93, of Raleigh died Wednesday, February 7, 2024, after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Robert B. Honeycutt in 2017, and by her son Barry D.Honeycutt (Sandy) in 2022. Marie was the third-youngest of ten children of Rena and Jody Whittington of Coats, NC.

Marie is survived by her children – Daughter Susan Leggett (John) of Cary; Sons Banks Honeycutt (Stephanie) of Garner, and Brooks Honeycutt (Mark Niehaus) of Rehoboth Beach, DE; Two granddaughters, Jennifer Papp (James) of Cary, and Jessica Williams (Jay) of Raleigh; Seven great grandchildren, Alex and Lily Papp, and Colton, Harrison, Beckett, Jamison, and Caroline Williams; Sister Christine Matthews of Lillington, and Brother McKinley Whittington (Margaret) of Coats. Marie was also preceded in death by Brothers Garland Whittington (Jewel) of Coats, Stacy Whittington (Louise) of Erwin, Preston Whittington of Coats, Fonzer Whittington of California, Phillip Whittington (Marva) of Garner,
and Billy Whittington (Margie) of Coats; and her Sister Agatha McLamb (Carlie) of Coats. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Marie retired from Westinghouse with 26 years of service where she maintained many friendships for the rest of her life. She was a loyal member of Millbrook Baptist Church where she was known for her friendly smile, fashion sense, and delicious baked goods.
The family will receive friends at Montlawn Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, from 12:00pm – 1:00pm, followed by a funeral service with burial following afterwards in Montlawn Memorial Park.
