Obituary of Marie Hood

Marie Edwards Hood, 81, of Raleigh, went to Heaven on Saturday, July 31, 2010 after a long illness.

Funeral Service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Haven Free Will Baptist Church, 5408 Tryon Road, Raleigh, NC. Burial will follow in Montlawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at Montlawn Funeral Home from 6-8 Monday.

A native of Franklin County, Marie was born November 1, 1928, the daughter of the late Willie and Nora Pendergrass Edwards. She loved being outdoors and had the gift of "growing flowers out of rocks" but her real devotion was in loving and caring for her family.

Marie is survived by her husband of 40 years, Jimmie R. Hood; children, Jack Nelms, Lynda Parker, both of Raleigh, Brenda Tollefson of Holly Springs, Charles Chester of Garner, Terry Quintero of Willow Spring, Timmie Chester and Jimmie Chester, both of Raleigh; step daughter, Denise Hood of South Carolina; 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
