Obituary of Marion Bowman

Marion Smith Bowman passed away May 28, 2012 at the age of 78.

She was born February 17, 1934 in Raleigh, NC to Claude D. Smith and Virginia Chappell Smith. She graduated from Hugh Morson High School in 1952.

Marion was the President of Southern Foundry Co., Inc. where she retired in 2000. She spent the remainder of her time travelling with her husband.

Marion dedicated her life to being a loving wife, caring mother and grandmother. She also enjoyed caring for others and spending time at the coast with her family and friends.

She was an active member at Swift Creek Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, sang in the church choir and was a Deacon.

Surviving are her husband of 33 years, Major Jon Bowman, US Army, retired; daughter, Jennifer Lewis White; sons, William H. Lewis, III, Jon Michael Bowman and wife, Alisa, and Charles Alexander Bowman; seven grandchildren who will always remember her in their hearts as Ya Ya; two sisters, Margaret Stallings and Barbara Cooke and husband Henry.

A funeral service will be held 11 am Friday at Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will follow at Montlawn Mausoleum.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-9 pm on Thursday.
