Obituary of Martha Parker

Martha Foster Parker, 85, of Garner, passed away Thursday morning, December 22, 2011 at her residence.

A Funeral Service will be held 12:00 Noon, Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Grace AME Zion Church, 1401 Boyer Street, Raleigh, NC 27610. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the church from 11-11:45 a.m. Tuesday, prior to the service.

Born November 22, 1926 in Wake County, NC, Martha was the daughter of the late Collins Foster, Sr. and Irene Moore Foster. In addition to her parents, Martha is preceded in death by her husband, Charlie H. Parker; her son, Burt Bradley; and brother, Edward L. Foster.

Truly Loving the Lord, Martha was a deaconess at her church and sang in the choir for many years. She was also a dedicated worker for Meals on Wheels for 22 years, before her failing health.

Martha is survived by her daughters, Mary Ann Spencer, and husband Minister Luby of Garner, and Irene Robinson of the Bronx, NY; granddaughter, Rachel Barnes and husband Christopher of Atlanta, GA; great-grandchildren, Allison Barnes, Christopher Barnes, Jr., and Preston Barnes, all of Atlanta, GA.
