Obituary of Mary Hardison

Mary Lee Teague Hardison, 84, of Raleigh, died at her home on Sunday, June 17, 2012. Mrs. Hardison was born April 20, 1928 in Murphy, NC to the late Forrest L. Teague and Della Vandiver Teague. She was a resident of Raleigh for over 60 years. She and her husband Leland Bennett Hardison opened their first retail store in 1977. The flagship Luggage and Leather site in Crabtree Valley Mall in Raleigh remained open until April, 2008.

She is survived by three daughters, Andrea L. Hardison and husband Peter Rountree of Morehead City, Brenda L. Hardison and husband Kevan A. Burnett of Raleigh and Paula W. Parsons and husband Gregory Parsons of Raleigh. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Ryan Matthew Ward, Olivia Grace Parsons, and Evan Hutchinson Parsons of Raleigh; brothers, Kenneth Teague of Murphy and Harold Teague of Atlanta, GA; numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Hardison was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Leland Hardison, originally of Williamston, NC, one sister, Billie Jean Teague Carroll and three brothers, F. J. Teague, Bobby Teague and Wade Teague.

Special thanks are extended to caregivers, Rachel Kiragu, Mary Kirite, Anne Kimani, Edith Rosemary and Grace Njuguna. Their compassionate care was a blessing to Mrs. Hardison during the last year.

A memorial service will be held 11 am Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel, 2911 S. Wilmington Street, Raleigh, NC. Entombment will follow at Montlawn Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to YMCA of the Triangle, 801 Corporate Center Drive, Suite 200, Raleigh, NC 27607. Gifts will be used to support outreach programs.
