Mary Whilden Liles (96) left us December 23, 2022, to be with her husband, Homer, family, and friends. Left here to
remember and laugh at her many wild stories and doings are her children Barbara L. McIntire and husband Michael and
son, Warren Liles; grandchildren, Denise Synowiez, Brian McIntire and wife Mindy, and Gina Liles; great-grandchildren,
Aubrey, Owen and Scarlett McIntire. She is also survived by several special nieces and nephews. She was predeceased
by her parents, Martha and Charles Whilden , Sr., brother Charles Whilden, Jr., and nephew, Stephen Whilden.
Mary retired from Meredith College after 33 years with the Environmental Department. She arranged all the flowers for
many of the functions held at the college. With her outgoing personality, she made many friends where ever she went,
especially in the dance community, which was a great source of enjoyment for her and Homer for many years. As a
long-standing member of Longview Methodist Church, she enjoyed serving on various committees. For someone who
never drove, she was always ready when one of her friends called asking her to go to Bojangles or Walmart!
A memorial service is planned for Thursday, 1 pm, December 29th in the Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will
be held from noon to 1 pm before the service. At Mary's request, please feel free to dress comfortably.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wake County SPCA or charity of your choice.
