Obituary of Mary Mangum

Mary H. Mangum, 99, of Apex, departed her earthly life on Saturday, February 1, 2014. She was born June 15, 1914 in Harnett County, the daughter of the late Henry and Mary McNeil. She was married to Leo Mangum who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by two children, Margie Mathis and James "Snap" McNeil.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 8, 2014 in the chapel of Montlawn Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Memories Mausoleum at Montlawn. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mary was a caregiver and personal assistant for many notable families in Washington, D.C. for over 40 years. She was a faithful and longtime member of Apex First Baptist Church in Apex, NC until her health declined.

She leaves to cherish her memories a daughter, Mrs. Ruby Mangum of Baltimore, Maryland, a sister, Mrs. Minnie McNeill of Erwin, NC. ; grandchildren, Lang Maith, Debbie Patillo, Sandra McNeil and four great grandchildren. Mary is also survived by a very special niece and caregiver Geraldine McNeill and her husband W.K. Latimer who worked right by her side as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
