Merwin R. Hommell, 75, of Cushendun Lane died Tuesday, February 11, 2020 surrounded by his family after a brief illness.  Born October 17, 1944 in Saugerties, NY.  After graduating from Saugerties High School, Merwin worked in the Brick Layers Union.  He went to work at Alpha Portland Cement Company and IBM.  He retired from IBM in 1993 and moved to Garner, NC.

Merwin was an avid outdoorsman.  He enjoyed hunting, fly fishing and admiring the outdoors and nature.  He was an animal lover and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.  Survivors include his wife, Sheila.  A daughter Lisa and her husband John Voerg of Saugerties, NY.  A son, Darren of Garner, NC.  Three grandchildren Carly Voerg, Noah Voerg and Julia Voerg of Saugerties, NY.

A celebration of Merwin's life will take place at 3 pm on Saturday, February 15 at The Rand-Bryan House on 2518 Benson Road, Garner, NC.
