Born February 1, 1936, passed away on October 16, 2025. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Mary Morse; his grandson, Patrick McCormick; and his son-in-law, Brian Bailey. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Sue W. Morse; his sister, Melissa Voss; Catherine Young; bonus children, Robin Bailey and Jeff Kelly; seven grandchildren: Megan Price (Justin Price), Robert Bailey, Chris Bailey (Meaghan Bailey), Josh Cole, Samantha Kelly, and Zack Kelly; and four great-grandchildren: Lucas Cole, Calvin Cole, Dahila Elliot, and Ines Bailey.
A Raleigh native, Michael graduated from Broughton High School in 1954. He was actively involved in the reunion planning board and greatly enjoyed it. He served in the Air Force and subsequently attended NC State. He worked at Lucent Technologies, a telecommunications equipment company that was spun off from AT&T in 1996, and retired from the firm. Following his retirement, Michael worked part-time at the Wil-Mar Golf Club in Raleigh, where he combined his love of golf with connecting to others. He enjoyed playing golf, watching, and attending tournaments, making it an ideal position for him. In addition to his love of golf, Michael also enjoyed the Carolina Hurricanes, attending games and watching them on television. Michael and Sue traveled extensively and cherished the time they spent together, including family visits, trips to the Grand Canyon, and cruises to the Bahamas, Aruba, and their favorite, Alaska. He was deeply loved by his grandchildren, who he loved dearly. Michael was known for his deep laugh, kind heart, and the love he shared with his family. He will be dearly missed. A celebration of life will be held on October 28 2025 at 1pm Montlawn Memorial Park, Funeral Home & Cremations.
