HICKORY

Walter M. McGrady III went home to be with the Lord on August 8, 2020.  He was 65 years old.  Mr. McGrady is survived by his brother, Don McGrady, his sister, Linda McGrady Alexander, and his six nieces and nephews.  Mr. McGrady, known as Mickey to his family and friends, worked for many years as a train engineer with Caldwell County Railroad and Thermal Belt Railway.  He lived his life with passion and kindness, always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.  He also loved nature and thought of his beloved dogs as treasured gifts from God, thoroughly enjoying taking them on three 5-mile walks every day.  He will be greatly missed but will be forever in our hearts.
