Obituary of Mildred Verille
Mildred Joan Sandonato Verille, 91, died Saturday, August 11, 2012.
Her biggest blessing in life was the safe return of her beloved husband after he was captured during World War II at the Battle of the Bulge. She retired after a 20 year career with the Harrison, NY Police Dept., where she was a school crossing guard. She spent her retirement years in Indiana, Florida and North Carolina. She loved sports and politics, but above all loved her Italian heritage and taking care of her family. She was happiest when her home was full of family and she was cooking traditional Italian meals for them.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 am Friday at Saint Michael's Catholic Church in Cary. Entombment will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Surviving are her son, Perry Verille and wife Joyce of Cary; grandchildren, Michelle Slover and husband Kyle of Morrisville, Melissa Verille of Charlotte and Michael Verille of New York, NY; and two great-grandchildren Kaitlin and Matthew Slover of Morrisville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Angelo and Angelina Sandonato; her brothers, Frank, Pasquale and John; her sisters, Mary and Ann; and her great granddaughter, Megan Elizabeth Slover.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 - 11:00 am Friday at the church prior to the service.
