Obituary of Milton Hobbs
Milton E. Hobbs, Jr., a lifetime resident of Raleigh, died at the William M. Dunlap Center for Caring, Hospice Home on August 28, 2013.
Milt attended Hugh Morson High School and was a graduate of North Carolina State College, earning a bachelors and masters degree in engineering, while a member of the basketball and golf teams. He served in the United States Naval Air Corps in the South Pacific during World War II. On June 10, 1943 he married Ethyleen Bryson.
After his service in the Navy, he returned to Raleigh and worked with A.E. Finley, Nello L. Teer, Daniels Construction and First Colony Farms.
He was a member of the Olde Raleigh Boy's Club.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Ethyleen B. Hobbs, and his immediate family Milton E. Hobbs, III, Sandra and Ashok Ullal, Thomas and Susan Hobbs, Bitsy Hobbs, Leatrice Faye Matthews, as well as five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the William M. Dunlap Center for Caring, Hospice Home, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC, 27607.
