Mucie Mae Harrison Watkins entered the presence of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday January 3, 2017.
She was born on June 15, 1927 in Wake County, NC to her loving parents John Macon and Ilda Ray Harrison. She grew up with 5 brothers and sisters whom she loved dearly. She later married the love of her life Carey D. Watkins Jr. and remained his faithful wife for 72 years.
Mucie graduated with honors from Cary High School and was an all-state basketball player for their team. After graduating high school she attended nursing school and obtained her license as a nurse. She dedicated her life to serving others in this role for over 30 years.
She served faithfully and tirelessly beside her husband in various Christian ministries for 70 years, including times in Wales, England and Peru, South America.
Mucie was preceded in death by her loving husband and her 5 brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her daughter, Bess W. Dew and her husband Johnie M. Dew; sons, David and Mickey Watkins, 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Her legacy is summed up in her life verse Isaiah 40:31 "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."
The Family Visitation and the Memorial Service will be held at Montlawn Funeral Home at 2911 S. Wilmington Street, Raleigh, NC on Friday, January 6, 2017 at 10 am and 11 am respectively. Rev.
